LUBBOCK, Texas – Marcus Seals grew up in Denton, Texas. He said he compares it to a tiny Austin. Seals said that experiencing middle school was hard for him. He said kids would label him as gay, and he continuously told people they were wrong. For Seals, he said soccer was a big part of his life. He said it is probably the most masculine thing he will ever do, and he was able to be a leader. He said his friends were all really supportive. Seals said he recently came out to his father, who is the last person he had to come out to, and he said he was super surprised with his dad’s supportive response. Seals said he went to Texas Tech to follow in his grandpa’s footsteps. Seals said he is double majoring to either be a physiologist or a social worker. He has worked at Chick-Fil-A for a couple years. Seals said people think the company will not accept gay people, but that he had no bad responses.
